Enjoying the flavour of your food, breathing, talking, smiling or kissing... Our mouths play an important role in our daily lives, not only for some of our body's vital functions, such as eating and breathing, but also for interaction with the environment and the people around us.

Besides their implication in our well-being and overall health, our mouths are a true reflection of our behaviour. One of the worst habits for our health in general is smoking. Smoking is associated with a long list of systemic diseases and disorders, several of which have an impact on oral health, according to Dr. Xavier Calvo, Medical Advisor at DENTAID. The best way to prevent these consequences is, without a doubt, to abstain from this habit. The figure of the professional is key for mitigating the adverse effects of this habit on oral health, through advice and the adoption of measures and solutions

For the second consecutive year, the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration (SEPA) and DENTAID are organising the SEPA-DENTAID Symposium, an event that is addressed to dental hygienists and that will be held on March 15 in Madrid. The topic of this meeting will be Oral Biofilms and their Consequences: Evidence-Based Preventive Strategies. Renowned specialists will be delivering lectures on how the oral biofilm affects oral health and overall health, as well as the progress that has been made in this field.

But advances in research don't stop here: Dr. Mariano Sanz, an expert Stomatologist and Professor of Periodontology at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and periodontology expert at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), will enter in deep discussion on the implications of cell therapy in periodontal regeneration. In parallel, we are also pleased to present the first online platform on periodontal and peri-implant diseases where professionals can find specialised information about these diseases, their phases and treatment, as well as studies, articles and the latest advances in periodontology.

The News section brings us innovations in mouthwashes containing DENTAID nanorepair® technology, which positions DENTAID once again as a pioneer for formulating with hydroxyapatite nanoparticles, for which the company has recently been awarded.
