What products do you recommend your patients use at home to keep their teeth white?

Silvia Torices Revilla,
Dental Hygienist (Palencia)

Tooth whitening is a very simple treatment that we perform on a large number of patients at Dr Durántez de la Plaza's dental clinic in Palencia. A beautiful smile is important for first impressions, which is why this treatment is in such high demand.

White teeth make us look clean, healthy and young. The colour of teeth is determined by the dentin, the transparency of enamel and its capacity to refract light, but consuming substances with a high chromogenic content (coffee, tea, red wine, soda, etc.), as well as smoking cigarettes gradually makes our teeth darker.

Keeping teeth white after whitening treatment is easy. For this, we recommend using VITIS® blanqueadora toothpaste, as its composition gives it different effects: anti-staining, anti-calculus, polishing, anti-caries, repairing and whitening, as well as prevention of tooth sensitivity.

We also recommend its use after oral cleanings, because the paste prevents stains to re-appear after they have been removed. Using this paste on a VITIS® suave or sensible brush three times per day (three minute brushing) and VITIS® tape or floss helps to keep teeth white and healthy. If we add an annual whitening booster to this equation we will have a beautiful smile for a long time.

Dental Hygienists (Baleares)

In our dental practice, we mainly focus on a good dental hygiene technique at home, which is then completed with regular cleanings at our centre (ultrasonic and sodium bicarbonate).

For smokers and patients whose diet makes them prone to staining (coffee, tea, red wine, etc.), this must be accompanied by the use of VITIS® blanqueadora toothpaste for three weeks, which should be alternated with daily-use VITIS® anticaries paste.

If patients have stubborn stains or stains caused by tetracycline, etc., we recommend at-home whitening treatments, always after explaining the possible side effects of such treatments.

Lola Gómez Pérez,
Dental Hygienist (Villablanca, Huelva)

Ever since I started the Policlínica Blanca, I have always exclusively confided in DENTAID products for their results in our patients. This is why one or two weeks before performing a tooth whitening treatment, I recommend they use Desensin® repair, both the toothpaste and the mouthrinse.

The reason is simple - tooth whiteners clean dirt build-up from cracks in the enamel and from the dentinal tubules. Both products prevent tooth sensitivity by forming a hydroxyapatite nanoparticle-based wash-resistant coat. These nanoparticles block the transmission of the external stimuli responsible for pain sensation in the nerve endings, caused by enamel wear and the exposure of dentinal tubules from receding gums.

Also, after whitening in the clinic or at home, I recommend patients use the whitening paste and mouthwash, as these fill irregularities and cracks in tooth enamel, making it smoother and brighter, and helping teeth maintain their natural white for a longer period of time. As long as there are no additional problems, ideally patients should use both products for life to ensure greater effectiveness.

Besides exerting whitening and polishing effects, they also carry out anti-caries, anti-staining and anti-calculus actions, and let's not forget that they prevent tooth sensitivity from the hydroxyapatite nanoparticles in their formulas.

Dr. Antonio Aguilar-Salvatierra,
Dentist (Granada)

Both for patients who have already received whitening treatment in the dental clinic and want to maintain the results, and for those who want to whiten their teeth at home, I recommend using a low abrasive whitening paste, such as VITIS® blanqueadora toothpaste.

I also recommend low intake of substances that have the capacity to stain the tooth surface, such as tobacco, coffee or wine, among others. After this minimally invasive treatment with VITIS® blanqueadora toothpaste, the results should be observed and measures should be taken on an individual basis, as appropriate. Sometimes for treatment to be effective, first any periodontal problems the patient may have need to be solved.

Dr. Sufian El Mahi Amar,
Dentist (Melilla)

After a patient receives in-office tooth whitening, and also for any person who wants to keep their teeth white, here at our dental practice, we recommend daily use of VITIS® blanqueadora toothpaste along with VITIS® blanqueadora mouthwash. Normally we explain the properties of the toothpaste to our patients: it effectively whitens teeth, prevents tooth sensitivity, protects against tooth decay, is not abrasive and also contains fluoride.
